📬 Diary of a Software Engineer is a bi-weekly newsletter I started in February 2022 with the primary goal to improve my writing skills in English (I'm not a native speaker). A public commitment is what I needed to force myself to get out of my comfort zone.
I write about:
Software engineering principles - how you can write better code at scale your company can rely on for years to come.
Career - I share some hints I received at the beginning of my journey when I was a junior software engineer.
Working in an Agile team - being a good team player in a cross-functional team of software engineers.
Product Engineering - go above and beyond your role of software engineer becoming the go-to of your Product Manager to chat about new product ideas.
📌 An important note: I'm not a polite and formal person in my daily life, so I don't think I'll be also in this newsletter.
I'm Andrea 👋🏻
As soon as I learned my first programming language, I knew I wanted to become an app developer. Back in 2015, I studied Swift on my own and I developed my first iOS app for the high school final project.
Currently, I work as Senior iOS Engineer at Yelp where I’m part of the Core SearchUX team. I’m deeply passionate about experimenting UX flows and new product ideas that reduce user friction and help them to accomplish their goal.
Previously, I worked as Senior iOS Engineer at Just Eat Takeaway where I was part of the Identity & Protection team taking care of user authentication and account takeover prevention.
Before that, I worked at Subito (Adevinta), leading classified marketplace in Italy in the Traffic monetization squad with a big focus on advertising frameworks and then in the Lead & Global UX squad building tons of A/B tests and taking care of a company redesign.
If you catch me outside of work, I can give you some tips and tricks to prepare a good tiramisù!
I also like meeting new people over a cup of coffee (even virtually), feel free to reach out to have a chat ☕️
